I came out with the idea to mimic the use of a camping tent by also mimicking the function of a banana leaf; big and has long stems, and the flexible stainless steel hose to uphold the part of the structure which acts as a roof when one just wants to stand under a shade without the need to lie down. My design structure can be fixed into two different structures; one where it acts as a shade to stand under or another that acts as a shelter that helps to cover one's whole body and allow them to lie down. The level of my structure varies with the user's desire but the maximum height of the structure is 1800mm.
This structure is initially folded to becoming a backpack which then can be carried as one. The flexible stainless steel hose that is used to support the "roof" of my structure is thin but strong and this will not take up much space as the mattress which acts as the foot of the whole structure is being folded. The height of the "roof" can also be fixed according to the user's preferences by retracting the flexible stainless steel hose accordingly. These photos below shows my final design which includes it's elevations, sectional drawing, initial ideas, mechanism, prespective drawing, isometric drawing, the materials used, and it's concept design.
