For the second project, we were required to express ourselves in 3D form. This was also one of the ways for our lecturers to get to know us better. However, there is a challenge to this project as we were only allowed to use geometrical shapes to form our 3D sculpture and the sculpture was only limited to 200mm x 200mm x 200mm of measurement.
At first, I was so sure about what I was going to do and I guess it was pretty obvious to everyone too that mine will be related to gymnastics or dancing. And they were right. But I faced some difficulties with my sculpture as I didn't have enough knowledge about the types of glue/connectors to be used for certain types of materials and textures used.

I started off by collecting all the materials I thought I could use for my sculpture; wires of two different thickness, and dry clay. The dry clay didn't work out very well for my sculpture as you can see from my sketch, the base of the whole sculpture is only on one point that has a really small base area. The dry clay weighs really heavy especially after it dries up and my sculpture kept bending forward and it didn't and couldn't seem to want to stay upright. Therefore, I changed the design a bit by using full on wire to construct the whole sculpture.

In the end, I found a way to let my sculpture stay upright; I did a coil-shaped based so it could support my sculpture. I then stick the coil-shaped based onto the wood board, which is my base for the whole sculpture, with Super Glue. I then secured it by stickig small cut-out pieces of masking tape around the wire so it sticks really well onto the wood board. After all that, I painted the surface of my wood board with Acrylic black, mostly to cover the imperfections on the surface. But I also wanted it to be black and not any other dark colours is because my sculpture is only one colour and that is silver. I felt that the base needs to be black so the sculpture can really stand out.
